May 8, 2026 The surprise happened at North Carolina State University during the commencement ceremony for the Wilson College of Textiles. The Speaker and The Tribute The keynote speaker was Anil Kochhar, an Indian-American entrepreneur and major donor to the university. He and his wife, Marilyn, took the stage at Reynolds Coliseum not just to give a standard speech, but to execute a massive surprise in honor of Anil’s late father, Prakash Chand Kochhar. Midway through his address, Kochhar announced that to honor his father's journey, he and his wife were providing a graduation gift to completely cover all final-year education loans incurred by the graduates during the 2025–2026 academic year. While standing in the check out line at the grocery store this evening, a woman in front of me went over her budget for her groceries. She started to apologize to the clerk and myself. She was very embarrassed that she did not have enough money in her account. She started to take items off her bill. I offered to pay for the remaining balance of her groceries. She was very grateful and still embarrassed. I reassured her we have all had rough times and I am just paying it forward.

My friend and I took my mom to the In Between in Botkins and they were packed. We waited about 15 minutes and a table of 6 opened up in the back so we took it. Then a couple other tables opened up but a group of 13 came in and was going to have to split up to accommodate everyone. We decided to give up our table so they could push the tables together and have room for everyone. They thanked us multiple times. ❤
