Last year I noticed a yard that had not been mowed and was worried about the city mowing it and charging their extremely high rates witch go on the property taxes. I approached the residents and found a young couple with a toddler and a new born. They said they had no mower so I started mowing the yard. I ended up mowing it the whole season. When the new season began I returned to find someone had given them a mower but it didn't work.so I took it to try and fix while continuing to mow the yard. Now after 7 more mows I have repaired the mower. It took me some time to repair because I'm a under employed remodeler/carpenter not a mechanic. The mower needed a new carb and engine control cable ($30). I did this for no pay (I let them give me a total of 20dollars because I didn't want to not let them contribute anything (last season my mower died and I had to get another one). Now with a mower that should work for many years I feel like I have helped them be a little more independent.
