Acts of Kindness
The Challenge
Led by the school’s H2O Service Club, Lima Central Catholic launched the T-Bird Kindness Challenge in partnership with Doing AOK.
Their goal was simple:
Mobilize the entire school community to complete and log as many Acts of Kindness as possible, then challenge another school to do even more.
What began as a two-week initiative quickly became something bigger.
A shift in culture.
A shared purpose.
A reminder that small actions matter.
Lima Central Catholic Student Experiences
How They Did It
The challenge was intentionally simple so every student could participate.
Each student received a Kindness Challenge Sheet with a list of acts they could complete during the school day or on their own time.
The focus was not on grand gestures.
It was on everyday decisions:
- Including someone at lunch
- Thanking teachers and staff
- Encouraging classmates
- Helping without being asked
- Choosing to speak with kindness
- Taking the time to listen
Students could complete the same act multiple times. Each action counted. Each moment mattered.
And for the first time, those moments were tracked.
Student Leadership Made the Difference
The H2O Service Club led every aspect of the initiative.
- They introduced the challenge during a school-wide assembly.
- They distributed materials.
- They kept momentum going through reminders and encouragement.
- They collected and tallied every act.
- This was not a top-down program.
- It was student-led, peer-driven, and community-supported.
Turning Kindness Into Impact
At the end of the two weeks, every submitted act was counted.
The result:
578 Acts of Kindness in 14 Days
